James Yarger, PhD - Chief Executive Officer

James Yarger, PhD, co-founder of Endece, developed the proprietary concepts that form the basis of Endece during his career as a molecular biologist (metabolic engineering) and businessman. In 1997, he co-founded Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals and was responsible not only for raising all capital (over $15 million), but also for designing and building the research and manufacturing facility. In addition, as President and CEO of Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Yarger was responsible for the scientific strategy, business development, FDA and DEA compliance, and audits (including FDA inspections) behind the company’s growth. In June of 2006, Dr. Yarger resigned his position at Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals to co-found Endece LLC.

Dr. Yarger holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from Brandies University and was a Post-doctoral Fellow at Harvard. He has 12 scientific publications, eight patents awarded or filed, and 17 published scientific abstracts.

Dr. Yarger began his career with Miles Laboratories, Inc. (Bayer, AG) where he managed a research group responsible for cloning, expression and secretion of foreign genes in yeast and aspergillus. This research resulted in the identification of novel yeast transcription terminators and novel mechanisms of promoter regulation in yeast. This work was part of the team effort to develop and commercialize the genetically engineered drug, Aprotinin. Dr. Yarger then took a position with Amoco BioProducts Corporation where he was responsible for regulatory affairs. He wrote and filed a GRAS petition with the FDA and managed a research group that was part of a team responsible for metabolic engineering, cloning and expression of multiple homologous and heterologous genes in yeast and E. coli for the synthesis of vitamin D analogs and carotenoids. This work resulted in the patenting and commercialization of a vitamin D analog 25-hydoxy vitamin D3 (Hy.D.).

Jean Yarger - Chief Administrative Officer

Jean Yarger co-founded Endece LLC in 2006. As Chief Administrative Officer, she is responsible for all business administration, strategic development, financial administration, and corporate policy and procedure for the company.

In 1997, Ms. Yarger co-founded Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Inc. She actively contributed to its success by establishing all business administration procedures for the young, entrepreneurial company. Significant accomplishments included purchase and installation of office and communication equipment, initiation of the company’s risk management initiatives, and writing/implementation of all initial standard operating procedures for production, shipping/receiving, and regulatory/ quality. Until 2001, she managed the reception and shipping and receiving departments. In addition, Ms. Yarger implemented a computerized accounting system and then established and managed the finance department until 2001. In response to growth of human capital at Cedarburg, she established the Human Resources department in 2001 and implemented formal procedures for payroll administration and benefits, departmental strategic planning and development, succession planning, and employee training and development.

Ms. Yarger’s first experience in business administration was as owner of an interior decorating franchise in St Charles, Illinois. She has over 30 years experience in education as a classroom teacher and in business administration. Her major interests are in strategic development and employee training.

Ms. Yarger holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa.
