ENDECE focuses on those small molecules that act as ligands to target, bind to, and activate key biological switches (receptors) controlling metabolic pathways in humans at the level of gene transcription. A platform of over 40 compounds has been synthesized using ENDECE’s rational design approach.
Using this platform of compounds, one of ENDECE’s goals is to screen and develop novel compounds that stop cancer growth and lead to years of quality life for cancer patients. To this end, ENDECE’s most advanced compound, NDC-1308, is in late pre-clinical studies and kills tumor cells by down-regulating gene transcription involved in chromosome replication pathways while up-regulating gene transcription involved in cell death pathways. ENDECE has formulated NDC-1308 into a solid lipid nanoparticle in order to increase the drug’s blood circulation time concomitant with improved accumulation in tumors.
